Additive manufacturing technologies are among the strategic technologies that are considered as a priority all over the world due to many advantages, especially the design flexibility it offers. With the development and use of this technology becoming evident in recent years, the interest of industry and university in additive manufacturing technologies in our country has increased with a different momentum and trend. The contribution of our country to additive manufacturing technologies in recent years; It has emerged in different dimensions such as the development of technology, the localization of additive manufacturing machines, the production of the original design and has become evident in the international arena.

Gazi University, following the development in the world, established the Additive Manufacturing Technologies Application and Research Center (EKTAM). EKTAM is structured as a national center of excellence that all industrial organizations and universities in our country will benefit from. Based on metal and ceramic materials, we work with industrial organizations for both basic research and development of products up to Technology Readiness Level 6 on material research and 3D printing technologies. EKTAM is located in the TeknoHAB Technology Development Zone in order to facilitate the cooperation of universities and industry and to provide high value-added products. Thus, the accessibility of the additive manufacturing research infrastructure, which is important for our country, is ensured by both the university and the industry. 

EKTAM, which has managed to benefit from TÜBİTAK's 1004, SAYEM and COFUND programs with the platforms it has created, as well as the national and international projects it has started to carry out since its establishment, carries out product-based studies in strong collaborations with the industry, while on the other hand, with the full-time doctoral program, the qualified manpower needed by our country. tries to contribute to its source.

EKTAM's effectiveness in the field of additive manufacturing technologies in our country; The technology development services it offers are becoming more prominent in the areas of high value-added product development and contribution to qualified manpower resources. Depending on its evaluation within the framework of Law No. 6550, EKTAM will continue to serve more effectively in the status of National Center of Excellence for our country.
